BT rolling out fibre broadband to three more London districts

Addiscombe, Battersea and Hackney are being upgraded to receive access to BT's super-fast broadband service.

BT has rolled out its fibre optic broadband infrastructure to another three parts of London, bringing speeds of up to 80Mbps to more residents and businesses.

The telecoms giant's latest round of upgrades in the capital will see super-fast broadband deployed to over 26,000 properties in Hackney, 24,000 in Battersea and 20,000 in Addiscombe over the coming weeks.

Fibre optic broadband connectivity allows families to access multiple bandwidth-heavy services - such as video streaming and online gaming - simultaneously, while businesses can take advantage of applications such as internet telephony and high-definition video conferencing.

By the end of this year, BT is aiming to deliver fibre optic broadband to more than 2.5 million premises across the capital.

Chet Patel, the telecoms giant's London regional director, said: "Local authorities and business organisations are keen to get fibre broadband to as many local homes and businesses as possible. We will offer our help and assistance to make that happen."
