BT set to launch fibre broadband in Harlow

Residents and businesses in Harlow will be able to access super-fast broadband from BT later this month.

BT will launch its fibre optic broadband service in Harlow later this month, bringing super-fast connection speeds to thousands of residents and businesses.

When the telecoms giant's Openreach arm completes its programme of upgrades in the Essex town, the technology will be available to 29,000 properties, reports the Harlow Star.

The rollout will allow consumers and enterprise users to take advantage of high-bandwidth services such as video conferencing and HD-quality video streaming.

Dave Hughes, regional manager for the east of England at BT, noted the current challenging economic climate and said super-fast broadband will "transform" people's experience of the internet.

"Local authorities and business organisations are keen to get fibre broadband to as many local homes and businesses as possible, and we will offer our help and assistance to make that happen," he added.

Last month, BT announced a further 22,700 properties in Essex had been upgraded to receive the company's next-generation copper broadband service, which offers speeds of up to 20Mbps.
