Cheshire East Council to host fibre broadband event

Friday, January 10th 2014 by Paul France
Cheshire East Council will host an educational event on fibre optic broadband.

Cheshire East Council has pledged to boost knowledge and awareness of fibre optic broadband in the area by hosting a free event.

On Wednesday January 22nd, local people will be able to visit Alderley Edge Festival Hall anytime between 16:00 and 20:00 GMT to listen to experts talk them through the benefits that fibre optic broadband can bring socially and economically.

Some homes and businesses in the region have already been introduced to the superfast service, thanks to the Connecting Cheshire rollout project. However, those still waiting will be able to find out when their property is scheduled for an upgrade.

Cheshire East Council Deputy Leader David Brown explained that the event could go some way to making sure residents take full advantage of the new technology, saying: "I urge everyone to attend this event to learn more about the benefits of faster broadband."

He went on to stress the importance of fibre optic broadband in the area, claiming it would "transform" people's lives.
