North Yorks businesses given fibre broadband advice

Wednesday, August 21st 2013 by Paul France
Businesses in North Yorkshire have been given information on how to take full advantage of superfast broadband.

Selby and Ainsty MP Nigel Adams has hosted a breakfast briefing designed to help local businesses make the most of fibre optic broadband.

Employers in the area were invited to last week's event to find out about the arrival of faster connectivity in Tadcaster as part of the Superfast North Yorkshire programme, a partnership between the county council and BT.

The briefing included guidance on a wide range of subjects, from search engine optimisation and social media to website improvements and cloud computing.

Supported by the European Regional Development Fund, the initiative offers 12 hours of free assistance and training to firms, as well as grants of up to £700 to be spent on boosting online business skills.

Commenting on the event, Mr Adams said: "It was certainly very encouraging that many of our local businesses are looking to take advantage of the benefits of high-speed internet as superfast broadband begins to roll out across the Tadcaster area."
