Plusnet calls for participants in fibre broadband trial

Plusnet is calling for more participants in its ongoing trial for the new 80/20 fibre broadband service.

Telecoms company Plusnet is calling on UK consumers to register their interest in taking part in its ongoing fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) broadband trial.

Since the 80/20 trial scheme kicked off in January 2012, around 100 staff and customers have signed up, allowing them to access download speeds of up to 80 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 20 Mbps.

Having received positive feedback on the new service, Plusnet expanded the programme to all residential FTTC customers last month and notes that "plenty of spaces" are still available.

The trial is open to all Plusnet clients using the Value Fibre or Extra Fibre service at present and is offered at no extra cost from now until the official launch of the Plusnet 80/20 product.

At the end of this trial, participants will be offered the choice to upgrade to the new service or switch back to their previous fibre broadband setup.

Areas included in the pilot scheme include the likes of Bradwell Abbey, Highams Park, Chester South, York, Ilford Central, St Austell and Ashford in Middlesex.
