TalkTalk adds 30,000 fibre broadband customers

Network provider TalkTalk has experienced a significant increase in the number of customers opting for a fibre broadband connection with the company over the last year.
During the 12-month period ending in March 2014, 30,000 new consumers signed up for fibre connectivity with the provider.
In a statement announcing the year's results, TalkTalk said fibre broadband was a popular option among customers also wanting to sign up for TV with the firm, but who have a slow copper speed that means they cannot take advantage of the service. Therefore, they often upgrade their internet connection too.
Overall, 207,000 of the company's fibre broadband customers also have a TV package with TalkTalk.
In addition to this growth in customer numbers, TalkTalk recently announced it would be joining forces with Sky and CityFibre to deliver ultrafast broadband throughout York.
The annual report also shows TalkTalk now has more than one million TV subscribers, while its total revenue was up by 3.4 per cent over the 12 months, taking it to £1,727 million.
