Broadband pledge by Cheshire East Council

Friday, April 10th 2015 by Editorial
Cheshire East Council has committed to improving its online services.

Cheshire East Council has announced a pledge to the communities it covers to upgrade access to superfast broadband in the area over the coming months and to improve the authority's own digital services.

Announcing its new 'digital by default' scheme, the council has committed to roll out improved online services in the months ahead, including the launch of a new dedicated online portal for its entire digital offerings.

Local residents and business operators alike will benefit from easier access to council services, while the rollout of increased speeds via fibre optic and next-generation broadband networks carries on apace across the county.

An additional 10,000 premises in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington are now expected to benefit from improved fibre connectivity by September 2017 as part of the ongoing Connecting Cheshire scheme, while the government has committed to achieving 95 per cent superfast connectivity coverage for the whole of the UK by the end of 2017 also.
